i sometimes forget that when i put something on the church blog that not everyone can read it, DUH. Not everyone can read spanish….so i just posted and bragged on our church and thought i’d reciprocate it here, for all you english speakers… =)
Yesterday was a tremendous day at Iglesia Bautista de Whitfield (Whitfield Baptist) –we’ll do spanish lessons while we’re at it…. We started Sunday School at 10am…now spanish custom is to get there anytime between 10am and 10:30 for sundayschool, we’re working on this, but some habits are hard to break, but by 10:15, we had about 15 people, started with our prayer requests and Tony began the lesson…then another family came in, and another and later on, a few more trickled in….final count was 23 people in Sunday School!!!! We were so excited!!!!! The room was PACKED, no space, no room for any more people, in fact, 2 of the men were standing!!!
The service to follow was wonderful as well, we had 2 more come in, took us to 25, but we still have families that weren’t present so we probably would have hit 30!! Now, to some of you, 30 may see like nothing, but a year ago we were maybe running 9 on a good day (and 4 of them were US), so this is fantastic – God is blessing, they are bringing their families and friends. They are telling others about Jesus… WOW.
Tony brought a wonderful message about the prodigal son and the love of the Father. We have many families that are being destroyed by world, but the message of hope that God can restore the family, it was very touching, and the looks on the faces of the people…wow. its indescribable. It’s a blessing to his heart i’m sure, a pastor likes to know he’s making a difference in the lives of his flock.
please pray for our church family, pray that God continues to bless, and we continue to grow, we’d love to see 100 people by years end, but if we can only get one more in the door, it’s worth it all.
We start Awesome preaching in August with the American church on the 5th of August, and every Tuesday in August. Come and visit, we have different preachers ever Tuesday and it’s always a blessing, dinner is provided at no cost before the service also. And hopefully we’ll be announcing the start of 3 services a week for our spanish church soon….
i’ll keep you updated.
