And the oscar goes to…… May 25, 2007

It is the last day of school…Abbie graduates to 3rd grade today and Josh to 5th…it is hard to believe that Josh will be starting Middle School in one more year….

The kids had an awards day today and were honored for their acheivments throughout the year. Both the kids do well in school, Abbie is in the gifted program and loves to read, Josh sings in the 4th and 5th grade chorus and excels at math… today, they received certificates, medals and patches as rewards.

Abbie won 1st place in her class for a program called accelerated reading, Josh took 3rd in his class. Abbie was 30 points behind the winner for her entire grade. Poor Josh didn’t have a chance, the girl that won his grade level read enough books to earn almost 200 points!!! Now, that’s amazing!!!

Just wanted to brag on my kids for a minute, they did so well, ending the year with all A’s on their report cards.

Now come the lazy days of summer. Job well done children!!!

We spent Saturday together in Chattanooga, I cooked all morning making fried chicken, potato salad, deviled eggs and brownies….about 3pm we packed up and made our way to the downtown area..

There is so much to do in this wonderful city, but that day, we had a plan. So off towards the aquarium we went, bypassing the entrance, we instead headed for the large fountain areas next to it and let the kids romp and play in the water. They had tons of fun and then as they dried off in the sun, we headed to a nearby park to play and eat.

After everyones tummies were full we laid around for about an hour then rounded up the natives to head to our final destination of the evening – much to Abbie’s dismay at first, we walked up the steps to AT&T field to watch the Chattanooga Lookouts. Now, the game had much to be desired, one or two good plays, and unfortunalty we lost, but we did get to sing a rousing rendition of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”……..

The fireworks were spectacular and we had a great time cheering on the home team!
